Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat is a product that I have always been a little unsure of. Working for an airline and it always being a popular product upon the duty free cart, I have sold it to so many ladies who have always been extremely excited about it, but I personally have never really been sold on this pen like cosmetic. I can't quite put my finger on why, as it really is so heavily raved about it for it's corrective and highlighting qualities that normally would be right up my street.
I think I maybe saw it as quite a lot of money for the amount of product you get and so recently when I had the opportunity to shop with a little bit of discount, I thought I would give it a go and pick up the Collectors edition, just because.
The product normally comes in a sleek mirrored Gold tube rather than this sparkly edition and comes in seven shades. Strangely with this Limited Edition Touche Éclat, I was only able to get it in one shade, No 1 Rose Lumiere- The Original Highlighter, which to be honest I find a little too Pink toned for me.
It's supposed to work to give your face and make up instant light, luminosity and radiance and in turn, help to banish areas of darkness. I find it does help to lighten my dark circles of a morning quite nicely and maybe the Pink tones help with that, but honestly, that's all I find it does for me and I don't think the price is justified for 2.5ml of product.
It's supposedly one of the United Kingdoms best-selling make up products and is seen as a handbag essential by so many, but unfortunately, as convenient as the pen, button click and brush is, I can't help but feel I would have been better off with a better value highlighter and concealer.
As the self confessed make up obsessed girl that I am, I do like to have this in my collection and really hope I grow to like it, maybe I'm using it wrong? I would love to know how you use this product and whether it's an essential for you.
Touche Éclat costs £25 is available on YSL Beauty and is available at all Yves Saint Laurent counters including Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Selfridges.

So many people think the same, I'm still not sold :(
DeleteI've had 3 of these but yet it's still not a staple in my makeup bag, i can and do get away without using it and manage not to look dead... what I like about it is that it blends into my skin effortlessly (the perfect pink tone for me) and the consistency is just right, I do sometimes prefer this for under my eyes over regular concealer... but as I say it's not a 'must have' for me but I reckon everyone should try it. I never actually thought of the price with regard to how much product you get... for 2.5ml over £20 is a bit high but I dont think i've ever bought it full price, i refuse haha x

Yes I completely agree. Not a must have, but nice to have?
DeleteI'm like you, desperate for it to work for me too but I really think it is SO over-rated and such a let down product! I do love the packaging of that one though, gorgeous!

Yeah it is a lovely looking product, just not sure I can justify the price.
DeleteI love the packaging, sounds like a great product! x
ReplyDeleteIt's meant to be a highlighter not a concealer so even though you use it under the eyes if you wish, you also use concealer :) hope this helps x
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, I've never been rushing out to buy it! There's so many dupes for things like this that I just don't see how I could spend that much money on a product like this! x

I know, it's such a small amount of product for the price. I personally can't justify it
DeleteThanks for your honest review! I had problems with dark circles and kinda 'dull' skin for a while, and my Mum went out and bought me this. I think it is advertised badly - for me, it works well as a highlighter sometimes, but not on my bags. Although there are really great concealers and much better highlighters out there, this item does still have some kind of weird appeal to people. I think the price is so high purely because it's YSL! x
ReplyDeleteI think it's just very highly hyped about and unfortunately for me, it just doesn't work great. I can see why some people would see it as a must have, but for me- it's not a winner which is sad.
DeleteSo great full for your honest review, I've been hunting around for a good highlighter for awhile now I did look at this but I agree with you the price for just 2.5ml Isn't worth it

Xo
I've heard great things about the Dior and Kevin Aucoin ones xx
Deleteaw laura, what a lovely honest review. Personally I loved the touche eclat, but like you, i just feel like i cant justify the price for the amount of product! it did work wonders on me when i had early mornings in the office though! x
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show what's great for one person isn't always for another. It's so much money for 2.5ml!
DeleteI have this edition and I love it! I put off buying it for so long but when I bought the new foundation I gave in..
ReplyDeleteI use it by put it in a V shape under my eye, my brow bone (if i'm not wearing heavy eyeshadow) and on my cupids bow. Then I really lightly pat it in, takes a bit longer to set but I like to leave it to do its thing! It instantly makes my skin look fresh and awake especially when worn with a matte foundation xx

I do agree, I think it does add a nice touch but I think theres so many other highlighters out there where you can get more for the price x
DeleteI really want to try this, it looks amazing and I'd use it as an under eye concealer and a highlighter as well, really need this in my life!

I'd love to know how you get on with it x
DeleteTo get the best out of mine I always conceal under my eyes normally and then add this on the inner corner. It is lovely and illuminating but if I haven't concealed dark circles before the effect just kind of gets lost. I too want to grow to love it but I think when I run out I'm going to go back to my George at Asda version!

Oh really? I've never heard of that! Will have to have a look x
DeleteI love this! Ironically I always get mine off the duty free cart too! :)

Maybe I've sold one to you ;) Ha
DeleteTried t a while ago and thought it was over rated and no batter than much cheaper concealers I have bought over the years. I think it's hype spoilt it for me as I expected miracles!!
