This afternoon, in between a couple of London Fashion Week related things, I popped into The LFW Apartment, which is an extremely fabulous apartment in a secret Covent Garden location. On arrival I felt like I was a member of a top secret club and was slightly overwhelmed when I was met by an array of some extremely fabulous brands all homed in the most magnificent of rooms throughout The Apartment.
It was a lovely surprise to see the Birchbox Team had taken over one of the bedrooms, especially being that the dreamy on suite bathroom played home to Laura Mercier, where I was very kindly given the opportunity to have a little make up touch up whilst being introduced to a few new products.
Although I had a pretty full face of make up on already, I braved it and gave my permission for the make up artist to do whatever she liked, which resulted in a smoked up look in tones that admittedly, I wouldn't usually go for.
Starting on the eyes, the Laura Mercier make up artist opted to use a Caviar Stick Eye Colour in the shade Amethyst along with a Laura Mercier Eye Colour, which I unfortunately missed the name of. Not a shade I would normally pick out on a palette, I must admit it's definitely grown on me and whilst I was slightly unsure and a little uncomfortable with it at first, I received a lot of compliments on it throughout the evening, so Blue hued or not- it soon became a winner in my opinion.
To finish the smoked up eyes, the lovely artist chose to use the Laura Mercier Longwear Créme Eye Pencil in the shade Noir. Taking a liner through both my upper and lower lash line is again, something I wouldn't normally do as I find it often closes my eyes up, but as I mentioned a few days ago, I've decided to be a little more adventurous and so I'll definitely be giving this look a go myself. In terms of longevity of the product, the Longwear Créme Pencil really is a longwear eye pencil; throughout the rain and the hail it didn't budge in the slightest and stayed pigmented and fade free late into the evening until it was removed. Followed by the liner, she sweeped Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black onto both my upper and lower lashes, it seems to be a really lovely volumising and lengthening mascara, but as it was more of a top up that anything, I can't really comment on how well it performed as it was applied on top of my existing mascara.
I've recently been in love with the Laura Mercier lipgloss Sweetheart, which I have unfortunately just found out was a limited edition, but today was a great opportunity to be taken through the range of glosses as if I'm honest, lip glosses are quite a new thing for me. We decided to keep my lip quite nude (surprise!) and so the duo of a Lip Stain in Shy Pink and a Lip Plumper in Bronzeberry was applied to give the perfect natural shade, with a touch of Bronze, which impressively stayed put for hours.
To finish the look, a different shade of my favourite blush in my collection was used, a Second Skin Cheek Colour in the shade Orange Blossom- a beautiful Peachy Pink shade that carries a very subtle shimmer, and a product that I'm pretty sure will be apart of my collection very soon.
Birchbox is all about discovering something new and whilst London Fashion Week is about trends, it most definitely has an aspect of experimenting and discovering new things and so although I would have never dreamed to use a shade like what was used on my eyes today, I'm really glad I was given a slightly new look to rock and will definitely be trying to recreate it myself at some point.
Sticking with the same products can be boring, what look would you never dream of rocking? Why not step out of the box and give it a go?
So jealous of this, and you look absolutely beautiful!
