Estée Lauder Pure Colour Sheer Matte Lipstick- Rock Candy

A couple of months ago now, I attended an Estée Lauder event at The Soho Hotel and on arrival the range of Pure Colour Sheer Matte Lipsticks stood out to me almost immediately. I think it was the range of shades that first grabbed my attention of these twist function lipsticks, and after giving them a little swatch, I was really impressed with the ease of application and the high pigmentation that they each seemed to offer.

The Estée Lauder Pure Colour Sheer Matte lipstick swatched above is in the shade Rock Candy* and it's a perfectly bright toned Orange Red which is a shade I absolutely love. I've worn it on a few occasions now and as much as I continue to apply it because the colour is so beautiful, unfortunately I don't seem to be able to get on with the formula very well, which is strange as I'm very much used to wearing a matte lip.

On application, this is an absolutely perfect lip product- the product itself is quite thin which helps for a perfectly precise application and although described in the title as Sheer Matte, the colour gives a fully opaque finish which I really like. On initial application, the product doesn't feel too drying and actually feels pretty comfortable on the lips, but I have found a couple of times that after 2-3 hours of wear, this is slightly too drying and uncomfortable for my lips and in some situations, have found it to be a little bit of a nightmare to reapply on top, without starting over, which I personally find to be such a shame.

Up until the stage when this does start to feel a little dry on my lips, it's a reasonably pleasant product, which is why I have continued to use it; it's a beautiful Spring Summer colour and applies on the lips nicely, but unfortunately it's not one for me to wear alone for long periods of time and is definitely for more of a pop of colour for shorter periods as apposed to whole days out.

These Estée Lauder Pure Colour Sheer Matte Lipsticks are limited edition and are available in four shades online and at Estée Lauder counters in SelfridgesBootsDebenhams and House of Fraser costing £19.50.

  7. I was in LOVE with the color after I saw the close-ups, but then I was disappointed to read your review. I even went to the site to see if anyone had anything else to add or say about these new lipsticks, but unfortunately, i'll probably pass. Thanks for the review! xx

  9. They look nice but the packaging doesn't look very Estee Lauder like! More like something you could buy in the drugstore, but the shades look very pretty! x

  13. That's a shame, I don't seem to be able to get on with any lip products! The only lip products I find to be completely none drying are the benefit lipsticks, however they staying power on those aren't so great :(
