Sculpting, contouring, cheekbone faking- whatever you want to call it, I love it and will continue to search for the best products to do it with. I've tried my fair few products when it comes to sculpting out those cheekbones and this Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo* is well up there with the best.
The mirrored Illamasqua compact is home to two shades; Lumos- a shimmering Pink toned Champagne and Heliopolis- a matte Brown, and together they work to sculpt and highlight the face in the most perfect way.
It's often quite difficult to find the perfect contour shade and Heliopolis is one of the closest to perfect shades I have come across. Not too Grey and not too muddy looking, it gives quite a subtle shadow shade perfect for getting into those (barely-there) cheekbones. I'm currently really enjoying using my Sephora Contour Brush with this and like to dust the contour shade through my cheekbones up to the top of my ear, along my jawline, down the sides of my nose and in my temples and find it works perfectly.
Lumos is a highlight shade that I wasn't sure I would love when I first laid eyes on it. It's ever so slightly Pink toned, which put me off somewhat to begin with, but dusted over the high points of my face including the tops of my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow, it gives a really pretty subtle sheen that catches the light in the most beautiful way.
Although both could be used in a much more strong, dramatic fashion, I really love that this Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo doesn't work too strongly on first touch and gives really subtle, natural results to what on some occasions can be quite harsh.
I'd recommend this to both those that are new to contouring and those that are pros and am really pleased that it's a part of my collection.
Available to buy now at Illamasqua stores, online and at counters in Selfridges and Debenhams, this Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo costs £26.
Have you tried this duo? I'd love to know what you use for contouring and highlighting.
As amazing as this duo looks (and it is pretty genius to have both in one) I wonder if I'm a shade or two too tan for that contour shade to show up well. I will definitely be swatching it to see though! Thanks for your review :)
