Pregnancy Update #3: Gender Reveal and Haul

Now a day or so into my 21st week of pregnancy, this update is a little overdue.

Two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I attended a private scan that was intended to find out the gender of our little baby and if you don't follow me on Twitter, YouTube or Instagram, then it will be news to you that we are, as I believed from the first moments after I peed on the stick, expecting a little baby boy and we could not be more thrilled.
Knowing the gender of our little baby makes everything feel so much more real, as do the beautiful little kicks that occur in my tummy every single day (and night) now which are all so magical. I honestly don't think we will ever get bored of feeling them, although be sure to quote me the moment I'm sobbing that he's kicking my ribs! Our first flutters happened at around the week 18/19 point and my first real kick happened just below my belly button, moments after filming my Baby Haul, whilst drinking the coldest glass of juice.

One of the reasons we opted to find out the gender of the baby the week before our NHS scan, which my mum very delightfully attended with me, was so that we could begin proper baby shopping and that we did. I mentioned previously that we were attending The Baby Show at The Excel and we did so last week, but unfortunately, I can't say we had the most successful of trips.
Had we not have previously picked up sterilisers, bottles and the like, then we probably would have had a ball of a time, but in all honestly, we didn't find it too suited to us as there was a heavy influence from brands such as Mothercare, Mamas & Papas etc, all of which I have perused on a very frequent basis, as opposed to independent stores, which I had been hoping there be more of. The day we visited, the Professional Beauty Show was also holding their exhibition and although I had originally been very excited by this as I'm sure you can imagine, finding a seat to relieve my feet over an overpriced panini and coffee was a struggle and I left in quite the strop.
One tip I would give you if you are planning on going another time, is to browse the website and do your research for what you actually need, make a list alongside their high street prices to compare them and if you can, visit on the last day- as they offered much bigger discounts on "display" items, which were all in perfect condition.

Shopping has well and truly continued and although I suffered with a bit of a sickness bug, which is even more nasty when pregnant suffering with round ligament growing pains, I managed to pull myself out of bed this weekend to accompany my boyfriend to Westfield, where we went a little crazy on baby clothes- check out my Instagram for our little dudes current wardrobe!! We've started to pick up bigger things now too which is super exciting and this week I've been non stop prancing around the house with my gorgeous Stokke iZi Be Safe Car Seat, which fits into my Mini First perfectly with and without an Isofix base- which I had always been made to believe I would struggle with.

In terms of babies health and size, everything is going just perfectly which is all we could wish for. He has a perfect heart rate that I've listened into at my midwife appointments and everything is growing as it should be, which is an absolute relief every single time we're told.

With my growing bump, it's very clear to all that I'm very much pregnant now and so I'm super thankful to maternity clothes. Although I have been known to have a little moan about frumpy maternity wear, New Look, ASOS and Topshop have been my friends and I've included some of my favourite bits in my latest video.

Over the half way point now, this journey is more exciting than ever and I hope you're enjoying my little updates as much as I am enjoying sharing them with you.

  7. Ahw, lovely little boy! My younger sister had my nephew nearly 3 months ago and he is the most darling baby. I do love a boy in the family, they always seem a little bit more relaxed. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well, sounds like you're thoroughly enjoying it so far. xo

  8. Congratulations :)

I was at the Pro beauty show when the baby show was on and people were coming out with so many goodies, I'd definitely go to that if I was pregnant or had just had a baby x
