Last week I uploaded my 25 Week Update and another baby haul to my YouTube Channel and now at the beginning of Week 27, I thought it was about time to give you a little update into how things are going for bump and I.
Other than at the beginning of my first trimester, when things were a little hard and a bit of a shock to the system (see here and here), my pregnancy journey so far has been pretty, dare I say it, easy. That is, until week 26, when my growing baby bump really started to take its toll on my body.
Being out of breath was something I had got used to because when you really think about how much space my baby boy is taking up in there, it's all pretty relative but the weight strain on my body, particularly on my back, is something I'm beginning to really struggle with.
I don't have the best posture as it is *slaps wrists*, but I feel like my body is being thrown completely out of sync and whether I'm standing up, laying down or sitting, I feel so uncomfortable.
Many a night has been spent sobbing myself to sleep in discomfort or tossing and turning until the early hours to the dismay of my boyfriend Mike and although it's not helping as much as I wish it would, I don't go anywhere without my V shaped pillow. It's not as firm as I would like, which I feel would possibly help a little more, and knowing that with 13 weeks still to go, this is just the start of the third trimester joys, if you have any recommendations for pregnancy pillows/wedges, I'd love to hear them!
Updating my bra collection, from what was quite the feminine, dainty and pretty collection to the more practical side of things, has helped massively and although I never thought I'd say it, I can't get enough of a good old comfort bra with lots of stretch, no underwire and well, designs that before, I probably would have mocked. I've been wearing a few different ones, but my standout go-to bra is a Silk Seamless number from Bravado*, which is a dream to wear and will come in perfectly when I start breastfeeding.
I have a very active baby on my hands and I'm not bored of feeling his kicks in the slightest. He's a cheeky little thing, in that he will only kick for Mike and I and any sign of anyone elses hands, means he hides away and goes back to sleep but each and every movement is honestly absolutely incredible and I cherish even the biggest of somersaults into my bladder or ribs (ish).
I have my next midwife appointment in a couple of weeks, which although I've been made aware to expect blood tests, I'm actually really looking forward to. I'm going to put together a list of questions to put to her, which will range from the more personal of questions to more general things like weight, growth and birth plans- eek!
Moaning aside, I'm really enjoying pregnancy and although it is extremely exhausting, I wouldn't change it for the world. I have thirteen weeks left until my due date, which on one hand seems like it's just around the corner but on the other, seems so far away. I'm so excited to meet our little boy and so we're breaking the remaining time with a special little scan and I'm extremely excited to say, we'll be taking you and the camera along with us!
I'm going to try and get a few posts up shortly of the beauty products that I've been using to keep my bump soft and supple and fingers crossed free from stretch marks, and I'll be sure to keep you updated on my YouTube Channel.

Oh my god!!! I thought you'd still be flat, it only feels like last week that you announced it! I hope you're feeling ok, I saw you saying that you were uncomfortable the other day :(
ReplyDeleteAt 25 weeks, sore hips from lying on my side to sleep has had me in tears. I purchased two memory foam pillows and lay on them like my own little mattress. The support and softness is just right maybe it can help you too. I also have fused vertabrae which couldn't get sorted before I was pg xx
ReplyDeleteLoving these updates, your bump is perfect and I agree those comfy bras are bliss!

Awww congratulations, will be worth all the sleepless nights and discomfort in the end . Have you decided on your pram yet? Just looking at different opinions and reviews x
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing, it not a stretch mark in sight. My doctor told me that if my mom didn't get any stretch marks with me that I wouldn't get any with my daughter, and he was right, I didn't get any on my belly. I did keep the area perfectly oiled up at all times with bio oil and cocoa butter. I know it's tough but your doing great and soon that bundle of joy will be in your arms
ReplyDeleteYour bump is looking good :) Swimming can often help take the strain of your back, it make the bump feel a little lighter. Thats the only way my mum was able to cope with the giant baby that was my little brother!! Good luck and congrats <3

Aw, your bump is so cute. Envious that it's stretch mark free. Hehe.. The 3rd trimester can be the hardest of them all especially with the added weight. Maybe an 'S'-shaped pregnancy pillow would help?
