Laura Mercier Créme Smooth Lip Colour in Mango

Laura Mercier is a brand that I am growing ever more in love with and after experimenting with a few of their products over the last year, I would put them towards the top of my favourite make up brands list.

Though lipsticks are the first product I usually go for, surprisingly, it has taken me until now to try one and fortunately, with a shade that is quite different to others I have and one that will be perfect for Spring/Summer.

This Laura Mercier Créme Smooth Lip Colour in Mango* is a dream to work with and aptly named, applies to the lips perfectly smooth and trouble free. Though I wouldn't say it's necessarily as bright as how it comes across in the swatch and is slightly more muted, it is still a fresh and vibrant shade that I can only describe as a creamy mix of Coral and Pink Red tones. The pigmentation is incredible and in the swatch pictured above is in fact just one quick sweep of colour, which shows how brilliant the pigmentation and how well the lipstick applies.
Included in the formula is Pure Olive Oil and Vitamin E, which work to keep the lips nourished and smooth and it works a treat. My lips don't feel too dry after wearing this for a long time, which is especially nice with this kind of shade.

I read somewhere that these aim to be super long wearing and free of bleeding and sitting in lines and although the colour does last a fair few hours on my lips before any need of attention, the colour does unfortunately bleed on me a little, although no more than any other Red or brighter toned lip.

I really like this lipstick formula and am keen to try Arabesque, which is a Pink Nude that has been released into their Spring Summer 2013 collection.

Laura Mercier Créme Smooth Lip Colour lipsticks cost £20 and are available online and at Laura Mercier counters in Liberty, Space NK and Selfridges.

MAC Vegas Volt

This little baby is the second lipstick that I purchased in Duty free, along with Morange which I blogged about here.
I was being indecisive about whether to get this or Morange and I'm glad that I opted with both. As you do.

Vegas Volt is an in-between Orange Coral shade, making it a lot easier to wear than Watch Me Simmer or Morange. When I was at the counter, I asked the make up artist what she preferred out of the two and she replied Vegas Volt, because of the peachy tones it carries, it's not as in your face.
It definitely isn't as daring as others I have recently purchased and is the perfect colour if you're on the hunt for a Coral or an Orange that isn't so bright, but still very pigmented and a beautiful shade.

Once I got this home and started swatching, I became aware that it is very similar to Costa Chic, without the frost finish, which personally I hate. I've never been able to part with Costa Chic because I do love the shade, but the finish always unfortunately let me down and because of that I have hardly worn it. With that in mind, it's another reason why I'm glad that Vegas Volt is now in my collection.

It is another Amplified finish, which means it is super creamy and pigmented on the lips and sticks around for a very long while before becoming drying or needing topping up which is fabulous. Amplified is easily one of my favourite finishes, which probably comes as no surprise to you as the last four lipsticks I have purchased and blogged about are, have been Amplified.

I haven't yet worn this at work, but I can already tell that it's going to be a work favourite of mine.
It really is that perfect in-between that will work for both day and night- especially in the Summer!

What do you think of Vegas Volt?

MAC Reel Sexy

Yesterday I received an email from MAC telling me of their new collection- Reel Sexy. As much as I love MAC I seem to have fallen out of love with there collections over the past few months but when I saw a couple of the lipsticks in this one, I felt terribly excited again and I just knew I needed them in my life.

I would have ordered online, but the collection named lipstick, Reel Sexy was unfortunately sold out and so this morning I woke up super early before work to go to MAC and pick one up, and I am so glad I did.

This lipstick is AMAZING! I love it and I can see myself wearing it over and over again.

The colour is very much a bright Coral that falls on the lighter side of the spectrum, when I say bright, I really can't emphasise quite how bright this lipstick is. It's an amplified finish, which means it's super bright and pigmented anyway and so I was expecting that it would be this kind of shade. These pictures seem to have slightly muted the colour, because in real life it's definitely a lot more out there so to speak.

I love the feel of it on my lips, Amplified lipsticks are one of my favourites in terms of colour pay of and texture, they're super creamy and highly pigmented which I love.

Whilst in MAC I also picked up Watch Me Simmer, which is also apart of the collection. I've already photographed it and so will upload a post very soon. I was going to upload them together, but I thought you may need time to lust over this one first!

What do you think of Reel Sexy? Will this beautiful Coral be on your lips this summer?

My perfect lip combination.

I mentioned before in this MUA post that I really wanted to get my hands on the MUA Love Hearts lip balm in Sweet Kiss and fortunately enough, I did.
When I first saw this lip balm, I thought it was such a beautiful colour, and definitely the sort of shade I love and I am in no way disappointed. It's the most beautiful Coral Peach shade and like the other lip balms from the collection, smells like a vanilla sweet dream!
The colour pay off on the lips isn't the most pigmented, but it is just a lip balm and doesn't claim to add a huge amount of colour. Used on its own or on top of another lip product it literally is wonderful and works delightfully well paired up with Topshop Coy- so much so that it is my new favourite lip combo.

MUA Lip Balms are available along with the rest of the collection from Superdrug and cost just £2

Topshop Coy is very possibly my dream lip colour. It's a brightened combination of a Coral, a Pink and a Peach which all together could only create a beautiful shade.
If this was in a satin lipstick formula it would probably be my favourite ever, however what it actually is, is a lip colour stick which is unfortunately incredibly drying- boo!
It's super pigmented but with it being so drying, you couldn't possibly wear it alone and personally, I wouldn't ever want to.
I've been wearing it with my MUA gloss in Candy Pink up until now, but since getting Sweet Kiss, that has now been replaced.

Topshop Coy is available from Topshop and costs £7

These two products compliment each other so well. The shades and the formulations work together like a match made in heaven.

The moisturising lip balm takes away the dryness of how Coy feels on the lips and completes the look with a slight sheer/glossed finish which I think Coy lacks.
Sweet Kiss keeps your lips soft and adds a little confidence when wearing Coy, I know when I'm wearing a drying lipstick I'm constantly checking in the mirror that it doesn't look as bad as how it feels.

Although it's slightly annoying having to wear two products to get the look you long for, it can't be helped if your perfect shade and your perfect finish haven't yet been invented in one tube. Anyway, mixing it up a little bit is always fun!

Costing only £9 together, this is my latest perfect lip combo and I would highly recommend it and both of the products.

Have you tried Coy? Have you tried Sweet Kiss? Whats your favourite lip combo?

Nars Barbarella

I got Nars Barbarella at Christmas after putting on my list when I swatched it at Dubai airport.
It's my first Nars lipstick so I was super excited about it, after hearing such great things.

Barbarella is a Peachy Coral coloured lipstick, which is a shade that always goes down a treat with me. I have so many lipsticks in very similar shades to this.
It's slightly different to what I was expecting as I seem to remember it being slightly more matte (it was probably a completely different product).

The finish of this lipstick is sheer (I wish so much that it was slightly more matte), and the colour application on the lips for me is a little disappointing.
It doesn't give your lips as much colour as it looks like it would in the tube. In the tube, as you can see it looks very pigmented but that doesn't translate on the lips at all.

This is definitely a shade that I will get more wear out of in the Summer, as throughout the Winter I'm finding myself reach for either Pinky nudes or Reds.
When I do start to wear it more, I am hoping I will be able to double it up with another shade to get the perfect finish.

I love the packaging more than anything, Nars packaging cannot be faulted in my opinion, from the logo down to the slightly rubberised finish it is a dream.

Overall, I am slightly disappointed with the finish but I think I can learn from this that sheer just doesn't really work well for me.
I will definitely give a little update on this once the sunshine and floral dresses come back out.

Whats your favourite Nars lipsticks and can you recommend any combinations using this that will create a dream?
xx
