Gielly Green Boutique Collection Nourish Mask

For as long as I can remember, my mum and I have loved to indulge in a hair treatment and there is an ever growing queue of new ones sat on the side of the bath waiting to be used. The latest one to grace our locks is this Gielly Green Nourish Mask*.

I'm not sure who wins the prize for my favourite mask ever, but I know that this one is certainly up there, if not taking the winning title. It's not a brand I had heard of previously to trying it, in fact even when I was using it I wasn't sure on the brand nor where it sat in terms of high or low end, but I did know that the results were excellent and every single time I have washed my hair for the past couple of months I have reached for it.

Since looking into repurchasing this, I have found out that it is actual fact one of the priciest hair masks that I have ever tried at £29.50, but is it worth it? I think it is.

I tend to wash my hair before my bath and massage this into my newly washed wet hair from root to end and leave for the duration of my bath time, which is usually around 20/25 minutes. It's a very thick rich consistency which I think you can see from the photo above and just a small amount leaves my hair feeling so nice and soft. It definitely helps to give my hair a shine and without feeling heavy in the slightest, my hair feels and looks so much glossier and healthier.

The packaging is pretty massive for the 200ml of product, surrounded in a very chunky squared Plastic base which is probably my only negative. It does take up a little more room than necessary and there is just no way I would be able to take it away with me on trips as it is also quite weighty.

Gielly Green is a boutique salon in Marylebone and for a stand alone salon, this is a really fantastic product. I'm really keen to try the other masks and the volume range next, as I'm sure you know, volume enhancing products are always my go-to in any hair care collection.

This product is available for £29.50 on the Gielly Green website and Beauty Bay

Do you use a hair mask on your hair? Have you tried any of the Gielly Green Boutique Collection?

Origins & Ojon Christmas Offerings

At the beginning of last week I was invited over to St Martins Lane Hotel to sip on Champagne whilst being taken through the products that both Origins and Ojon have to offer this festive season.

This year, both Origins and Ojon have been favourite brands of mine and their products have very much become go-to essentials for me.
I particularly love Origins Face Masks and am the biggest fan of Ojons Volume Advance Hair Care, but this Christmas some very special products are available and they are already going down a treat and appearing on both mine and many of my friends Christmas lists.

Some special offerings Origins have this year, are their Christmas Crackers and Christmas Baubles, which are both full of fabulous sample sized best selling products and decorated so beautifully and festive. I know first hand how popular these are, especially the Baubles because so many of my friends have been picking them up for Chritsmas Treats. They are both exclusive to Selfridges and available online here.
Origins also have some beautiful Ginger scented products available that smell delicious, I'm not usually very fond of the smell of Ginger but there is something about it that is just incredible, the smell fills the room and it's just a cosy delight. These products are also available in a range of gift sets and available from Origins here

In terms of Ojon, since trying the Ojon hair care and absolutely raving about it I have often been asked whether they sell sample size bottles many a time, and this year they have some fantastic products available, all sold together in sets for really reasonable prices.
Volume Advance is by far my favourite range and fortunately there is a great gift idea available, The Volume Advance Revive and Refresh set, which is pictured above, costs just £20 and contains;
Volume Advance Volumizing Shampoo 60ml
Volume Advance Volumizing Conditioner 60ml
Full Detox Rub Out Dry Cleansing Spray 83ml

I'm sure all both Origins and Ojon products will be gracing many stockings this year, do you hope to open any of these gifts this coming Christmas day?

Tresemmé Texture Event

Tonight I attended the fabulous Heron Tower for Cocktails and Canapés forty stories high at Sushisamba and dinner at the most amazing restaurant Duck & Waffle all in aid for the lovely Tresemmé Texture Event.
We was all absolutely spoilt and seriously fed so much. I'm pretty sure I have never eaten that much food in my entire life and I am in no way, shape or form complaining. The sharing dishes we were served weren't the usual meals that I would go for and were probably a little adventurous for me, but nevertheless, absolutely incredible. Who knew Duck, Waffles, Egg and Maple Syrup piled on top of each other would taste so good?

Over the most amazing clear views of London, amongst the most delightful company, we were taken through the Tresemmé Texture range and demonstrated how to use them in order to achieve the perfect loose tousled textured look that I know so many of use strive to have. I certainly love this look so I took in all of the information very carefully and can't wait to put what I learnt to use and share it all with you.

The range consists of four products; Velvet Créme to help define and enhance any layers you have in your hair whilst giving a hold and fab matte finish, a Tousled Wave Spray to give your curls definition in an undone loose fashion whilst leaving your hair soft and bouncy, a Backcomb Dust that creates lift and volume without having to backcomb and a Texture Style Divine Definition Spray to give you fab, seperated layers leaving short to medium hair looking terrifically texturised.
I'm most looking forward to trying the Backcomb Dust on my hair. I have tried quite a few similar products and have had mixed experiences, but hearing absolutely amazing things about this one has left me very excited!

These four Tresemmé Texture products each cost £5.50 and will be available as of 1st October in Boots.

Do you strive for the perfect texturised hair or are you more of a perfectly neat fan? Will you be trying any of the Texture range?

Toni & Guy Serum Drops

Every now and then I like to spoil my hair with a couple of drops of serum and since receiving these Toni & Guy Serum Drops* I have become hooked.

It's used to help prevent frizz and those horrid fly-aways and give your hair a high shine and gloss,
and that is exactly what is does.

All that's needed is two drops and your hair is glistened with shine and feels so smooth and glossy to the touch.
I find it's best used for when I'm wearing my hair straight, as although it calms my fly-aways it does make it so soft and glossy that it's best in a straight, simple and glossed style rather than up, as it falls quicker and is too soft to work with.

I personally use two drops of this on slightly damp hair like a hair oil, from the mid-lengths to the ends before I blow dry it, although judging by the directions for use, it is meant to be used on dry hair which to be fair, is how most serums are used. I probably shouldn't use it like this, but it works for me.
At just 30ml, it's a tiny enough bottle to carry around with you to smooth through your hair on the go although it is glass so possibly would be a little weighty for a on the go hair product.

I like how serums work in my hair and find this one also seals the ends of my hair pretty well (thank goodness!), but the downside to them is I find my hair does need washing quicker than what it would if I didn't use them. I also find occasionally, if I use them on my dry hair anything after after day one it doesn't look or feel as good so I tend to only use them to calm down my day one frizzy hair.

This product is a part of the Toni & Guy Glamour range and is available in Boots in store and online here for £7.19.

Do you use a serum to smooth through your hair?

Lee Stafford Poker Straight Flat Iron Protection Mist

I've recently gone from almost cutting down using heat on my hair completely to possibly using it more than ever. I have either been wearing my hair with lots of volume created with my Big Fat Tong that I blogged about here or pretty much completely straight with a centre parting. For both of these styles, heat is crucial for me and so I decided that had to step up my protection with Lee Staffords Flat Iron Protection Shine Mist* that I was prescribed by Lee himself, at the Lee Stafford event.

I must admit, for as long as I can remember, I have been really naughty when it comes to heat protectant sprays. I have had the same ghd one sat pretty much untouched in my cabinet for a very long time and it's more than likely well past its use by date. Silly I know, as not protecting your hair from up to 200° each time is so, so bad for it and for us girls (and boys) who quite frankly really care what our hair looks like- why wouldn't we care for it as much as we possibly could?

In my opinion, I don't think a super expensive or high end protection spray is necessary. I may be wrong, I'm no professional, but I think they all do near enough the same thing and with that in mind, this is a perfectly good product, does a good job, it's really reasonable and looks fabulously Pink in amongst all of your products. I have been putting in more effort at upping my game and now make sure that I spritz a few sprays both onto my damp hair before blowdrying and on dry hair before using my tongs or straighteners.
I haven't noticed any change in my hair, but then this is a protectant and not a cure but what I do notice is if I use this alone with no other products, my hair does have quite a nice shine to it which I like.

Theres not really much more I can say where hair protectant in concerned, but I'm glad I now have a new product that I promise I will use every day.

This is a part of the Lee Stafford Poker Straight range and is available in Boots in store or online here for £5.99.

Do you make sure you protect your locks with heat? What do you use?

Ojon Super Sleek Shampoo & Conditioner

Recently I have found myself quite content with having my hair straighter and centre parted with no real style or much effort needed. It makes a change from my usual love of absolute volume and backcombing and honestly, it's quite refreshing to have simple hair that when I go out it doesn't need major retouching and a simple brush does the job.

I find that to get easy, manageable hair like this it's all in the product and I have been reaching for the Ojon Super Sleek Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner*.

The products are aimed to smooth your hair through, control frizz and any fly-aways you have and leave it sleek, smooth, shiny and all in all more manageable in both normal and more humid conditions.
I normally put the way my hair ends up after a blow dry down to the serums, the sprays and the mousses but when using these products, it's been because I'm going for a "less is more" look and I am so impressed with how well they work on there own.

I have found myself only using one a small amount of this each time, which is all thats necessary. A 50p coin size of product lathered into my hair is more than enough for a good clean and with the fresh scent, my hair is left feeling and smelling great.
Conditioners aren't really my thing but they are important, so I use a small amount of this through the ends and rinse off almost immediately, rather than the recommended one minute. Although these products work at making your hair more smooth and control your fly-away bits, my hair is super fine and I don't ever want to risk it really being too soft. The product on my hair does a fine job though and so personally I don't think I need to leave it on any longer.
I often find some conditioners really weigh my hair down but this doesn't in the slightest and after blow drying, my hair oozes with shine and feels so light, sleek and smooth.

My hair really does look so healthy after using this and I put it down to the ingredients Ojon have chosen to use and the fact that these products are sulphate free. I don't ever really look into the ingredients of products and tend to just pay attention to the effects but sulphates pretty much strip your hair of any goodness, natural oils and moisture leaving it drier than normal- which for me would really not be a good thing!

I've mentioned a few times that my scalp has been a little dry recently, but I have noticed that it hasn't been that bad and has been stayed calm when I've been using these which is great.

I'm finding Ojon products to be my favourites at the moment, I'm so sad I hadn't tried them sooner. For days when I do want bigger hair I'm still finding the Ojon Volumising range that I blogged about here to be my go to products.

These two products are available here on the Ojon website and cost £20 for the Shampoo and £21.50 for the Conditioner.

Do you long after soft and sleek hair? Have you tried any of the Ojon ranges?

Ojon Volume Advance

As you may be aware, time and time again I have posted about my search for the best hair products to give me the biggest hair possible and although I have been satisfied by the majority of products, I hadn't tried one that was an all round winner- until now.

I wanted to try Ojon for quite a while now, but I have had so many hair products in the pipe line to try, I couldn't really justify it. I am so upset that it has taken until now to go through trial and error with a bunch of products to find these. *Huge statement alert* Currently, these are my favourite products I own and possibly the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever tried.

Ojon Volume Advance Shampoo and Conditioner* both work to give your hair super volume and body without filling your hair with weight, making it heavy and weighing it down. They are full of goodness including their key ingredients- Ojon Oil and Peruvian Amaranth which is a protein for the hair that helps to seal the cuticles and follicles, give amazing shine, fullness and flexibility.

One of the ingredients that I personally love is the Lemongrass Extract, which I'm sure is what gives these products the beautiful scent. It's my favourite fresh smelling scent and when lathered into the hair it's like a dream. Very herbal, which isn't what I normally go for, but the lemongrass wins me over.

Normally, I wash my hair twice through to make sure its completely clean, but I don't feel it's completely necessary to with this. One small amount of shampoo really does clean my hair throughly and leaves it super soft and huge. I say in most of my hair product reviews, that I'm not so much a conditioner girl as if it's not a conditioning treatment, it usually leaves my hair either too heavy or the complete opposite and far too fly away. This actually leaves a great in-between and doesn't take away any of the volume that the shampoo helps to give my hair.
My hair looks and feels so much bigger and fuller and is so super soft with no weight to it which means with so much body, it just falls really nicely with lots of flexibility.

I've backed off the GHD's for the meantime and I really like how my hair is looking with just a blow dry and rollers. After using these two products along with rollers, my hair is left with a soft wave and the most amazing volume. To boof it up through the day, I don't even find that I'm needing any product and my hands rummaged through the roots works a fine treat.

I really can't rave about these products enough and although they do cost slightly more than most shampoos and conditioners I have tried at £18.00 and £19.50 for 250ml, they are in my opinion completely worth it and I am going to make a repurchase for when these eventually run out.

Have you tried anything from the Ojon range? Whats your all time favourite volumizing product?

Nioxin Hair System

In my previous Nioxin post that I wrote just after my Nioxin Renew Scalp Dermabrasion blow dry, I mentioned that I had been given Nioxin products to use for the next month in order to transform my thin hair into thicker, reconditioned, fuller locks.

I have used this system for the past 30 days and I must admit I am definitely one of the 72% that notice that my hair is visibly thicker within the month. It isn't actually thicker, in terms of strand by strand but to the eye it does look a lot fuller.
I have been laying off the heat a bit, so straightening has been a bit of a no no and if anything my hair has maybe looked a little too thick and big. Too thick? Yes, I did just say that.
My hair definitely needs a trim and day to day, I have been thinking that it's looking slightly too full, although I can't complain as it's all I've ever wanted. The box states that 77% of people also had these effects, so if you want the look and feel of more hair (this product isn't a miracle and unfortunately won't make your hair grow)- these products are for you!

The Nioxin Hair System Kit 1 consists of;
-Cleanser Shampoo 150ml
-Scalp Revitaliser Conditioner 150ml
-Leave In Scalp Treatment 50ml

I really, really love the Shampoo. It really feels super fresh in your hair and leaves it feeling so clean and free of build up.
I mentioned before that I have recently been suffering with a horrible dry scalp, and a huge plus with this product is that it removes build up beautifully as well as being quite heavy with the menthol, which is so cool and soothing on the scalp. It's not really the scent I would have thought I would like in a shampoo, but in fact I really like it.
Unlike the other products, that look pretty standard and White, this is Mint Green in colour and really does smell so fresh and minty to match. I find it so lovely to use, especially in the morning.

When I had the blow dry, that I blogged about here, the stylist told me I may experience a tingling sensation whilst it was on and I have every time I have used it, both in the salon and at home. This is completely normal and really makes me believe that it's getting to work, it's also super refreshing on my scalp which is quite often a relief.

Whilst I'm on the point of my dry scalp, for the first couple of weeks I was worrying that maybe this system was too harsh or drying, as it seemed to be getting worse. However, a further two weeks on my scalp is a lot better. I'm not sure whether it's down to these products, or whether it's just calming down anyway as I really do believe it did just come from no where.

The theory behind these products are that they exfoliate away the bad stuff on the root and replace and repair with good stuff, to make the condition around the root better, and therefore improve the look and feel of the hair itself. With that in mind, I think maybe it got worse because of the change but then got a lot better.

As far as conditioners go, I don't really like using them but this is one of the better ones. It doesn't leave my hair feeling or looking too fly away and after leaving for a few minutes and rinsing off with cool water my hair feels pleasant and around my scalp and feels pretty amazing.
I wouldn't normally use cold water to rinse my hair after washing, but the stylist did suggest it and really it makes sense. Just like its good to close your pores after your skin care routine, its good to close your hair follicle also.

The third part to the kit is the Leave In Scalp Treatment spray, which acts very similar to a toner full of goodness; antioxidants, botanicals and peppermint oil. I really like the concept of this product and enjoy using it a lot. You spray it onto towel dried hair (particularly on the scalp) before drying. It feels cool on your scalp, but you can't feel the product as it is just a fine spray.

I was also provided with the Nioxin Deep Repair Intensive Treatment 150ml, which I must admit I didn't use every time I washed my hair though I did use it at least once a week.
This puts some strength back into your hair and works like most other treatments and after leaving it on your hair for a few minutes after your normal shampoo and conditioning routine, it leaves your hair feel super glossy and in good condition.
I'm not sure whether its down to this product in particular or the kit as a whole, but I have noticed a significant amount less of hair breakage and fall out, especially after washing my hair.

I really do like these products and when I run out I will definitely consider purchasing them, especially the Shampoo and the Scalp Treatment.

The Nioxin System Kits are available for all different hair types and cost £27.99 each although you can buy the products singly, in bigger bottles costing from £16.99. The Nioxin Deep Repair Intensive Treatment also costs £16.99.

These products are available online and all salon stocklists can be found online here.

Nioxin Scalp Renew Dermabrasion Treatment and Thicker Hair Blow Dry

This evening I went along to the very beautiful Michael John salon in London for a Nioxin Scalp Renew Dermabrasion Treatment and a Nioxin Thicker Hair Blow Dry, to say goodbye to thin and lifeless hair and hello to thicker more voluminous locks.

Nioxin is a hair treatment that aims at giving you fuller and thicker hair, which is fabulous for those of us who have unfortunately thin or thinning hair.
It has been designed to  revive both your hair and most importantly your scalp, to improve the health surrounding your hair growth and appearance.
When I arrived at Michael John, I was greeted with a beautiful array of Cupcakes and goodies and introduced to the line of products that the lovely stylist would be using on me.
The stylist decided to use Nioxin Hair System Kit 1 for Normal to Thin Looking hair, which is how I would describe mine perfectly.

Nioxin Hair System Kit 1 consists of a Cleanser, a Scalp Revitaliser and a Scalp Treatment and in that order they was applied to my hair.
A small amount of the Nioxin Cleanser was massaged into my hair and rinsed twice throughly, in order to make sure the hair was completely clean. This was very pleasant and really did clean my scalp of any product and environmental build up so well. Following the rinse of the shampoo, the Nioxin Scalp Revitaliser was massaged into what felt like a very squeaky clean scalp. This was left to sit for a few minutes and gave quite a tingly sensation which I was told was completely normal.

This kit is informally known as a facial for the scalp, which sums it up pretty well. My scalp is suffering a little with dryness at the moment, which I have mentioned before and so I am hoping the exfoliation that this product generates on the scalp, removing build up and restoring the goodness, will help to improve it lots.
Once the tingly conditioning Scalp Revitaliser had sat for a few minutes and been rinsed off, the stylist ran some cool water through my hair to almost close the hair follicle, like you would with cold water to pores, and spritzed over the final product of the three step kit, the Nioxin Scalp Treatment. She described this as a toner for the hair which containing botanicals, antioxidants and peppermint oil, is spot on. This doesn't need to be rinsed and is the final step before blow drying your thicker, fuller hair.

Nioxin isn't a miracle and won't make your hair grow thicker but with the three steps- cleansing, optimising and treating, it will actively help to make it look and feel a lot thicker and fuller by improving the health around the root, on the scalp and in the hair.
There are additional products that you can use on top of the three step kit to further improve scalp and hair care and along with the Nioxin Hair System Kit 1 that I was very kindly given to continue to use I was also given a Nioxin Intensive Treatment Hair Masque which is said to help to strengthen the hair shaft against damage to reduce breakage and leave the hair further conditioned and manageable. I can't wait to use it, you know I love a hair treatment and I have a good feeling about this one.

The Nioxin Thicker Hair Blow Dry I was also treated to, was absolutely phenomenal. I went for curls, because I wanted to achieve the biggest hair possible and after a head full of pin curls, that's exactly what I got. I am so pleased with it the outcome and wish my hair would look like this every day!

I'm going to ditch all other hair products for the next month and use just these, I will be sure to let you know how I get on.

Is a Nioxin Scalp Renew Dermabrasion Treatment something that your hair is longing for?
xx
